Xiaomi has expanded its global smart wearable portfolio with the launch of the Mijia Smart Audio Glasses and Redmi Buds 8 Lite. The new products were unveiled at the company’s European launch event for the Redmi Note 15 series. This marks Xiaomi’s latest push in the audio and wearable segment. Here’s more on both the newly launched devices.
Redmi Buds 8 Lite
Alongside the smart glasses, Xiaomi also introduced the Redmi Buds 8 Lite as its latest budget-friendly wireless earbuds. The earbuds feature 12.4mm drivers with titanium diaphragms and support Bluetooth 5.4 with dual-device connectivity. They are compatible with AAC and SBC audio codecs.
Using Xiaomi’s Earbuds app, users can choose from five preset sound profiles or customise audio output using a manual equaliser.
The Redmi Buds 8 Lite come with hybrid active noise cancellation rated at up to 42dB, along with dedicated wind-noise and call noise reduction. Battery life is rated at up to 8 hours of playback on a single charge, which can be extended to a total of 36 hours with the charging case.
The Redmi Buds 8 Lite are available in Black, White, and Blue colour options and are priced at €23 in Europe.
Mijia Smart Audio Glasses
The Mijia Smart Audio Glasses are designed to look like regular eyewear while integrating audio and smart functionality. Instead of traditional earbuds, the glasses feature dual speakers and quad microphones, allowing users to take calls, listen to music, and access smart features directly from the frame.
Touch-sensitive areas on the temples enable users to control playback, adjust volume, activate the voice assistant, and manage calls. Xiaomi has also added real-time recording for calls and meetings, which can be activated using a press-and-hold gesture on the temple. Additional features include wind noise reduction and a privacy mode designed to reduce sound leakage.
For connectivity, the Mijia Smart Audio Glasses use Bluetooth 5.4 and support dual-device pairing, allowing users to stay connected to two devices simultaneously.
Xiaomi has equipped the glasses with dual 114mAh batteries, one housed in each temple. The company claims up to 13 hours of continuous audio playback and up to 9 hours of talk time on a single charge. Charging is handled via a proprietary magnetic charger that clips onto the temples and connects through a USB Type-C adapter.
The smart glasses are available in three designs – Brownline (€179), Pilot-Style (€179), and Titanium (€199). All variants come with IP54-rated dust and splash resistance. The Titanium version is the lightest, weighing just over 27 grams without lenses, while the temples on all models measure 5mm in thickness.
