OPPO Reno15 Series India Launch Set for January 8, Pro Mini to Debut as Compact Premium Option

OPPO has confirmed that the Reno15 smartphone series will officially launch in India on January 8, 2026. The company is taking a different approach for the Indian market by reshuffling the model names compared to the global lineup. While the Reno15 series launched internationally with a Pro Max and Pro variant, the Indian launch will introduce a new Pro Mini branding and skip the Pro Max name entirely.

The India-specific lineup will include three smartphones: Reno15, Reno15 Pro, and Reno15 Pro Mini. According to confirmed details, the phone sold globally as the Reno15 Pro will arrive in India as the Reno15 Pro Mini, while the global Pro Max will be rebranded as the Reno15 Pro.

Reno15 Pro Mini Brings Compact Flagship Appeal

Despite the new name, the Reno15 Pro Mini is not a new device. It is positioned as a compact premium smartphone aimed at users who want high-end features in a smaller form factor. The device features a 6.32-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. It measures 7.99mm in thickness and weighs around 187 grams, making it one of the more manageable premium phones in the market.

This move places OPPO in direct competition with the growing number of compact premium smartphones that focus on comfort without compromising performance, battery life, or camera quality.

Design and Finish Remain Central to the Reno Identity

Design continues to be a strong focus for the Reno series. All three Reno15 models feature OPPO’s HoloFusion glass finish, which creates a layered three-dimensional look on a single sculpted glass back. The camera module uses a square-ring design that blends into the rear panel instead of appearing as a raised block.

Colour options vary by model. The Reno15 Pro will be available in Sunset Gold and Cocoa Brown. The Reno15 Pro Mini retains Cocoa Brown and adds Glacier White, which features a ribbon-like texture. The standard Reno15 will be offered in Glacier White, Twilight Blue, and Aurora Blue.

Strong Durability Ratings Across the Lineup

OPPO has equipped all Reno15 models with IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings. This means protection against splashes, freshwater immersion up to 1.5 metres, and resistance to high-pressure hot water. The company has also introduced a platinum-coated USB-C port to improve long-term corrosion resistance, an upgrade rarely highlighted in this segment.

Display Differences Explained Simply

The Reno15 Pro features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with ultra-thin 1.15mm bezels and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. The Reno15 Pro Mini uses a 6.32-inch AMOLED panel protected by Gorilla Glass 7i. The standard Reno15, based on the global model, comes with a 6.59-inch AMOLED display and Gorilla Glass 7i.

All three phones support 10-bit colour depth, Full HD+ resolution, and adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz, ensuring a consistent visual experience across the lineup.

Camera Hardware Focuses on Versatility

The Reno15 Pro and Reno15 Pro Mini share the same camera setup. Both feature a 200MP primary camera, a 50MP 3.5x telephoto lens, and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. The telephoto lens is optimised for portraits and also allows users to capture distant subjects with minimal detail loss.

For group photography, OPPO uses software that processes faces individually so that people standing at different distances appear evenly exposed. On the video side, both Pro models support 4K HDR recording at up to 60 frames per second across all cameras, including the front-facing camera, with consistent colour and stabilisation when switching lenses.

The standard Reno15 steps down to a 50MP main camera but still retains a 3.5x telephoto lens, which is uncommon in this price segment.

AI Features Focus on Practical Editing

OPPO’s AI implementation is largely centred around post-capture editing. AI Editor 3.0 includes features such as AI Portrait Glow and AI Motion Photo Slow-Mo, allowing users to adjust lighting and clean up motion after a photo has been taken. Creative tools like Popout enable layered photo and motion effects without relying on third-party apps.

Performance, Battery, and Charging Details

Both the Reno15 Pro and Reno15 Pro Mini in India are expected to run on the MediaTek Dimensity 8450 chipset, the same processor used in the global Reno15 Pro and Pro Max. The standard Reno15 is likely to use the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor.

In terms of battery capacity, the Reno15 Pro Mini could pack a 6,200mAh battery, while the Reno15 Pro and the regular Reno15 are expected to feature 6,500mAh batteries. All models are expected to support 80W wired fast charging, which should easily provide a full day of usage even for heavy users.

Expected Pricing and Buyer Perspective

A leaked retail listing suggests a box price of Rs 64,999 for the Reno15 Pro Mini with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The actual selling price could be closer to Rs 60,000 once launch offers are applied. This represents a noticeable increase over the Reno14 Pro, which launched at Rs 49,999, but the price hike aligns with rising component costs and upgraded hardware.

For buyers, the Reno15 Pro Mini makes sense for those who want a compact phone without compromising on battery life or camera flexibility. The Reno15 Pro is better suited for users who prefer a larger display for media consumption and gaming while retaining flagship-grade cameras. The standard Reno15 is likely to appeal to users who want to stay closer to the lower end of the lineup while still getting features like a telephoto camera and fast charging.
